This is part of the George Washington Memorial Parkway complex. Provides access to the hike/bike trail, has parking, picnic tables, nice views.
This is a beautiful, well-maintained park that offers a great view of the Potomac and the Mount Vernon pier on the Mount Vernon property. Facilities offer adequate parking, bathrooms and picnic tables. This is a great place to park to run or bike on the Mount Vernon Trail. There are fitness stations immediately to the east of this park on the Trail. There are picnic tables with good shade available and a fairly large open field to let your pet(s) run around. There aren't any bbq piits and I am not sure about the regulations on grilling activities at this park. Picnics here would be ideal for smaller groups, but larger groups should consider the Fort Hunt Park just a short distance away.
Relax location to come to after a long day at work.
Rest area on the George Washington Parkway and the Mount Vernon bike trail with lovely river views and plenty of shady grass to picnic. There are restroom facilities but no food or other amenities. This picturesque location is busy on weekends, but there is plentiful parking. Park closes at dark, which park service police will enforce in the summer!
Love this place. Its great for a quick jog and you'll have a great view of the Potomac River while traversing the trail that goes from the historical Mount Vernon Estate all the way to Fort Hunt Park.
